The Zions No. 212 is a headed cashbook for recording business income and expenditure, with GST columns built into both the receipts and the payments sections.

Zions call it popular as a basic record for tax purposes, and the layout is the classic cashbook spread. Receipts are entered on one side by date and particulars, payments on the other with the cheque number, and the payments side opens out into expenditure dissection columns so costs can be sorted by type as they are written in. A sundries area catches the odd item, and a folio number at the top keeps the pages in order.

Zions give 27 pages per book and 31 lines per page. The book is a wide, near square 290mm x 285mm, which is what lets a full row of columns fit across the opening. It suits sole traders, tradespeople and small offices who prefer to keep one handwritten book for the year and pass it to their accountant at tax time.
