Hand-drawn hearts and crosses in pastel rainbow shades pop against black on this playful Spencil backpack.

Hearts and Crosses covers a black base with brushy outlines of hearts and X marks in lilac, peach, pink, sky blue and lemon. A blue zip on the upper pocket adds a small accent, and black straps keep the look grounded. It works well for tweens who like colour but would rather carry a darker bag.

Inside the Hearts and Crosses pack sit five zipped compartments, and in Hearts and Crosses the two biggest sections use double zips. For a tablet or laptop, the heart pack hides a padded pocket with an elasticated strap; Spencil size it for laptops up to 14 inches. The front pocket on the heart bag is handy for quick-grab items, and a clip tucked inside anchors a coin purse or wallet. The day’s drink bottle travels in an outer sleeve on the Hearts and Crosses pack, and a zipped side pocket suits a phone. The outside D-loop suits a name tag and keychains.

Adjustable padded straps, a padded back and a padded base add comfort for Hearts and Crosses owners. Protective lining backs the Hearts and Crosses interior, while a padded grab handle makes lifting easy. Tucked inside the heart bag, a write-on name label is placed on the back wall for the class teacher to spot. Spencil give 43 x 30 x 25cm for the heart bag, plus about 21.5 litres inside and an empty weight of roughly 620 grams.
