A Traditional Die-Cast Compass for Everyday Geometry

The Helix 0353370 Metal Compass Single is described by ACCO as a traditional die-cast metal compass with a shortened point, a self-centring mechanism and a cam lock.

ACCO positions it for school projects and professional work alike. The product photo shows the compass on its own, with a dark head and a side clamp for the pencil; ACCO does not list a pencil with it, and the Helix compass with pencil covers that need. ACCO says the cam lock gives secure, stable operation in use.

ACCO lists a self-centring mechanism, meaning both legs open evenly from the hinge, so the point and pencil stay balanced as the radius changes. Set the radius against a ruler, press the point in lightly and turn the compass from the handle at the top.
