The Copic Sketch 12 colour set is the starter kit, pairing vibrant primaries with key basics such as Burnt Sienna and 100 Black.

Copic Australia call this a starter set of essential basic shades and vibrant primary colours. The twelve codes on the case band are V09, RV11, R08, YR04, Y13, YG03, G17, B14, B29, B39, E09 and 100, which spreads one marker across most colour families. For portrait or comic work, Copic suggest adding a few skin tones on top of this core group.

A Medium Broad nib handles flat fills and a flexible Super Brush gives tapering strokes from the same barrel. Because Copic make the markers refillable and the nibs replaceable, this first set can stay in service while you grow toward the full Sketch range of 358 colours.

Keep building your palette with more art markers, practise hand lettering and flowing strokes with brush markers, rough out compositions first using artist pencils, and colour finished pieces on suitable sheets chosen from art paper and canvas.
